Fundsmith is a high performing global equity fund but you have to question its ability to maintain returns given its size and investment strategy.

Fundsmith's AUM is >£15bn and so increasingly needs to invest in mega cap companies if it wants to take any kind of sizeable position. This essentially means the major tech companies, however Terry Smith is a well known sceptic of new age technology.

Fundsmith recently took a large position in Facebook which is a move away from their comfort zone. That one isn't going so well.

There are currently better performing global equity funds out there and certainly better ones for the future.

Best unit trust I would recommend is Funsmith. They are invested in the best companies worldwide that fit their simple rules. Since inception in around 2012 its made a boringly safe 15-18% per year. That doesnt mean it will in future. But will best most unit trusts.
Best way to make more than that is venture or angle investing which requires a lot of knowledge of companies, budgets, risks and rewards and the nature of entrepreneurs, money people and charlatans. This knowledge is usually earned through bitter experience but when you get it gives you opportunities to make up to 1,000 % over five years or loose the stake. The knowledge enabled you to back people and companies with greater confidence but always expect to lose everything until you get a return.

Investments thst pay you 3% a year are making 7% a year or more off your money.

I run this company. www.cclgpartners.com if any aspect of what we do interests you ?

We also have an "asset management" arm, if you'd be interested in hearing more about that.

Minimum investment is £150k. We have approx £4m AUM.

Personal favourite is an Offshore Fund Ermitage Selz Fund.Like the idea that the guy who manages the Fund gets paid in units in the Fund itself.Vested interest to make sure Fund performs well.

On LCF myself.

As has been said no protection whatsoever for all I know the interest payments are my own money being drip fed back to me.

But the interest arrives on time.

I paid in what I can afford to lose and no more.

Yes, I'll believe it when I see it.
He's not originally from the UK and won't be here long term, so doesn't want it to be visible to HMRC.

LB,

Agreed, they're a great company.

Someone close to me used to work for them until recently.

The pork belly contract on CME has been defunct for about the past 6/7 years.

You can trade lean hogs though ;-)

Re: Investment on savings
Was talking to a bloke I know on Sunday. He inherited a load of money when his Dad died in the 80s and who had owned a construction company. This guy invested it all and just left it. When I met him in 2009 he was unemployed and broke and I helped him to pay his rent/eat, which I never got back.
He told me on Sunday that when he retires aged 55 in 3 years, he will access his money which will by then be worth over £300m. Why he has bothered to continue working all this time, I have no idea. I would have blown most of it on travel and hookers.
Reckons it's in the Cayman Islands and earns %20 pa.

Another vote for Lindsell Train Global here.

It's made some superb returns in recent years by just investing on big global blue chip corporates and is well diversified by its global mandate.
